Trees for Troops is a nationwide campaign to distribute REAL Christmas Trees to military families around the world. Started through the efforts of the National Christmas Tree Association, it is coordinated through their charitable branch, The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation. Since 2005, Trees for Troops has grown from 4300 trees donated by Christmas tree farms to 17,224 trees donated in 2010 by Christmas tree farms and their customers. With last year’s donations, the grand total sent to military bases, stateside and overseas, is 83,957. The goal for 2011 is to reach the 100,000th tree shipped!! With the cooperation of Christmas tree farms and their customers, this is a very realistic goal. FedEx partners by shipping all the trees free of charge, which includes those shipped air freight to bases overseas!!

Chub Lake Tree Farm has donated trees from the beginning and we have agreed again to participate as a collection site for donated trees. We are committed to load 100 or more trees on a FedEx trailer by the weekend of December 3rd & 4th, and hope you might help us reach that goal. With each tree purchased for the military families, we will donate $5.00 to The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation to help support this program.

In addition, this year Chub Lake Tree Farm is donating Christmas trees to local families of those on active duty. Several members of the local National Guard Unit “Crazy Troop 1-94 CAV” are now serving in Kuwait and Iraq.

You can help us say “Thank You” and “Merry Christmas” to our soldiers and their families by choosing one of the following options:

1. $25 or more will donate a tree in your name, loaded in the trailer and provided to a military family. If you choose this option, please make checks to: Chub Lake Tree Farm, and mail to 1867 East Chub Lake Road, Carlton MN 55718. Please note “Trees for Troops” in the memo portion of your check. You may also call our farm to make a donation payment by credit card. Either way, we will place your name on a card, attach to a tree, and load on the trailer.
2. You may donate any amount through the above procedure or while you are selecting your own tree at Chub Lake Tree Farm. Look for the Trees for Troops jar by the cash register. Your collective donations will be used to send extra trees.
3. For a special time, visit us on Trees for Troops Weekend, December 4th & 5th. Choose a tree for your family & purchase another tree for a military family.

We have invited National Guard unit “Crazy Troop 1-94 CAV” to join us on December 3rd & 4th for a special weekend. In past years, they have given of their time tagging and loading trees and sharing their military experiences with the customers.
